There is no limit to the number of participants. Complementary long sleeve high-performance race shirts will be distributed to the first 500 registrants.

Do you present any trophies or awards to the winners?

Where can I find a map of the route?
You will receive a map of your specific route when you pick-up your race packet at the Town Hall on Friday night or Saturday morning. In the meantime, you can check out an e-mapping of the two routes that are also available on registration site: registration site
Where do I park?
Parking for both races is adjacent to the Museum of Coastal Carolina at 21 East Second St, as well as public parking areas in the immediate vicinity. On race day, vested race volunteers will direct you to designated parking areas. Most available parking is a short walking distance to the Town Hall, which is the location for walk-in registrations and race packet pick-up. It is also the location for the start/finish line and award ceremonies for both races.

Do the Races Start at the Same Time?
Is the course difficult?
How high is the bridge?
Do we run on the beach itself?
To be determined
Is the course clearly marked? Do we run with traffic or will the roads be blocked off for us?
There will be mile markers and signs, as well as dozens of race volunteers to direct you along both routes, which are closely monitored from start to finish. At the start of the race, local police close the bridge and causeway until everyone returns back over the bridge around 9:30, then they monitor traffic throughout the entire race.
Do you have any Water Stops along the route? Any food and drinks for the participants before and after the race?
Before the race, coffee will be available for purchase. During the race, the first water stop is at the 2 mile mark for all participants, then water stops every two miles for the Half Marathoners. We will also provide energy gels to keep the runners going along the Half Marathon route. After the race, water and snacks will be available for the participants in the Festival area adjacent to the Town Hall/Finish Line – bagels, bananas and granola bars for the 5K participants, and pizza, water, bananas and granola bars for the Half Marathoners for their award ceremony beginning around noon.
Is there a deadline for finishing the race?
The race ends in 3 hours, at noon, so we encourage all of our participants to finish by that time for safety and other reasons (official timekeeping, awards ceremony, refreshments, etc.)
How does the timing work?
Timing is provided by Brunswick Timing Services, using the ChronoTrack Tag Timing System. A magnetic strip attached to the back of your Race Number will record the actual moment you cross the start and finish line at the beginning and end of your run. Both courses are USATF certified and official results will be posted to the web.
Where can I find the results of the race?
Winners will be announced during the Award Ceremonies for the two races, and the full race results will be posted by the timekeeper near the finish line. Also, the official results for all age categories will be posted online to the Wilmington Road Runners website and Brunswick Timing website.
I see that the race is a charity event to benefit the local Food Pantry. Are you accepting donations on the day of the event?
We are encouraging all of our participants to bring cans or boxes of food to the race. Our Shallotte Food Pantry distributed food to nearly 22,000 citizens during the past year, and we will certainly welcome your generosity to support our efforts at any time. Just see one of our volunteers at the Town Hall on Friday night or Saturday morning to make a donation.
Where can my family watch and wait for me during the race?
The best place to watch and root for the runners is the Start/Finish line on 3rd Street near the Town Hall. After that, the best viewing area is along the Causeway, between the parking lot and the bridge – runners return from the bridge and pass by the parking lot about 10 minutes after the start, then swing past the traffic circle a couple of blocks from there (and alongside the beach) later on in the race. The bridge will reopen to traffic in both directions at approximately 9:30 a.m. if they want to drive to a local restaurant.
Do you have a pre-race dinner or any hotel specials?
To be determined
Your registration page says Registration is Closed – how can I register in time for the race?
You probably came across the expired registration page for last year’s race from an old search engine link. If you go directly to the 2017 Run for Food following link, you will be able to register online until Thursday, January 11. You can register in-person on Friday evening, January 12, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., or on Race Day
January 13th between 7 & 8:30 a.m. at the Ocean Isle Beach Town Hall.
Can I walk in the Half Marathon?
The Half Marathon is really intended for runners, and we encourage walkers to participate in our 5K Run/Walk. The race officially ends in 3 hours, at noon, so we encourage all of our participants to finish by that time for safety and other reasons (HM awards ceremony beginning at noon, official timing and results, refreshments, etc.)
Can I use a running-stroller?
Yes, we do allow running strollers. The bridge may be a slight challenge, but the rest of the course is completely flat with normal pavement.
Can I run with my dog?
No. We do not allow pets in the race for safety reasons.
