Parking for all races is adjacent to the Museum of Coastal Carolina at 21 East Second St, as well as public parking areas in the immediate vicinity. On race day, vested race volunteers will direct you to designated parking areas. Most available parking is a short walking distance to the Town Hall, which is the location for walk-in registrations and race packet pick-up. It is also the location for the start/finish line and award ceremonies for both races. Also parking is available at Pier One and Pier Two.

Do the Races Start at the Same Time?
Is the course difficult?
How high is the bridge?
Do we run on the beach itself?
The Race starts promptly at 9 a.m. for all three Races. The course is entirely flat except for the bridge, which you will cross at the one mile mark, then cross back over at approximately the two mile mark. Listening to feedback from our runners, most of them consider the bridge just a small challenge. And they are rewarded with excellent views from atop the bridge, and a completely flat course for the remainder of the route. The bridge itself rises 80 feet over the Intracoastal Waterway and is approximately 1/3 mile in length. Later on, both routes will take you down 1st Street alongside the beach, but not on the beach itself.
Is the course clearly marked? Do we run with traffic or will the roads be blocked off for us?
There will be mile markers and signs, as well as dozens of race volunteers to direct you along all three routes, which are closely monitored from start to finish. At the start of the race, local police close one lane of the bridge and causeway until everyone returns back over the bridge around 9:30, then they monitor traffic throughout the entire race.
Do you have any Water Stops along the route? Any food and drinks for the participants before and after the race?
Before the race, coffee will be available for purchase. During the race, the first water stop is at the 2 mile mark for all participants, then water stops every two miles for the Half Marathoners. We will also provide energy gels to keep the runners going along the Half Marathon route. Before the race, water and snacks will be available for the participants in the Festival area adjacent to the Town Hall/Finish Line – bagels, bananas and granola bars for the participants, and Chicken Bog , a local delicacy for the runners to warm up with after they run their race.
Is there a deadline for finishing the race?
The race ends in 3 hours, at noon, so we encourage all of our participants to finish by that time for safety and other reasons (official timekeeping, awards ceremony, refreshments, etc.)
How does the timing work?
Timing is provided by Brunswick Timing Services, using the ChronoTrack Tag Timing System. A magnetic strip attached to the back of your Race Number will record the actual moment you cross the start and finish line at the beginning and end of your run. Both courses are USATF certified and official results will be posted to the web.
Where can I find the results of the race?
Winners will be announced during the Award Ceremonies for the three races, and the full race results will be posted by the timekeeper near the finish line. Also, the official results for all age categories will be posted online to the Wilmington Road Runners website and Brunswick Timing website and RaceEntry .
I see that the race is a charity event to benefit the local Food Pantry. Are you accepting donations on the day of the event?
We are encouraging all of our participants to bring cans or boxes of food to the race. Our Shallotte Food Pantry distributed food to nearly 16,000 citizens during the past year, and we will certainly welcome your generosity to support our efforts at any time. Just see one of our volunteers at the Town Hall on Friday night or Saturday morning to make a donation.
Where can my family watch and wait for me during the race?
The best place to watch and root for the runners is the Start/Finish line on 3rd Street near the Town Hall. After that, the best viewing area is along the Causeway, between the parking lot and the bridge – runners return from the bridge and pass by the parking lot about 10 minutes after the start, then swing past the traffic circle a couple of blocks from there (and alongside the beach) later on in the race. The bridge will reopen to traffic in both directions at approximately 9:30 a.m. if they want to drive to a local restaurant.

Can I walk in the Half Marathon?
The Half Marathon is really intended for runners, and we encourage walkers to participate in our 10K Run/Walk - 5K Run/Walk. The race officially ends in 3 hours, at noon, so we encourage all of our participants to finish by that time for safety and other reasons (HM awards ceremony beginning at noon, official timing and results, refreshments, etc.)
Can I use a running-stroller?
Yes, we do allow running strollers. The bridge may be a slight challenge, but the rest of the course is completely flat with normal pavement.
